A fresh start with citrussy notes, fresh orange, then jasmine and heather honey, followed by milk chocolate. Enticing and finely balanced with a short, pleasant
finish. A dram that makes you feel happy instantly, from a distillery which output goes for blending almost entirely, so it is seldom seen as a single cask bottling. A bit of a rarity, but a very agreeable one.- Hans & Becky Offringa, The Whisky Couple

A little piece of history
This one of the ‘younger’ distilleries, dating back to 1973 when it was founded by Seagram’s under the name of Braes of Glenlivet. In 1994 the name was changed in Braeval to avoid confusion with its big neighbour The Glenlivet. In 2001 Braeval was purchased by Pernod-Ricard, who almost immediately mothballed it, until 2008. Since July that year Braeval has been in production uninterruptedly and produces mainly malt whisky for Chivas’ blended whiskies. Once in a while an official bottling as a single malt appears. Braeval is seldom seen as an independent bottling, so we were happy to acquire a cask of outstanding quality for Saltire Rare Malt’s ever widening portfolio.
