Glenburgie has been around since 1810, although the company started under a different name: Kilnflat Distillery. In 1878 after having been closed for 8 years, the distillery reopened under its current name and has carried that since. As with many other distilleries Glenburgie changed hands various times until Chivas Brothers bought lock, stock and barrel in 2005. The lion’s share of its output ends up in Ballantine’s Blended Scotch, so a single cask bottling of this single malt is pretty rare.
Water source: Burns from Burgie Hill and an aquifer onsite
Malt source: Commercial maltings
Capacity: 4 million litres of alcohol per annum
Location: Forres, Speyside

Reminds us of walking into a field with sundried hay, leading to the entrance of an orchard with sweet red apples and fresh pears. To top it off a hint of butterscotch or maybe melted caramel poured over the apples? Complex and fruity impression with a medium long finish. With water it gets creamier.
